Surprise

There is a very special person in my life that I could not live without. She is not only my best friend and my role model – she is my mother. There are a lot of girls out there that say their moms are their best friends, but I can truly say that my mother is my greatest friend. She has not only been my caregiver and teacher (literally!) but she has been my role model for faith, my future, and anything else that I can think of!
There are not many opportunities for me to do special things for my mom – even though she is always doing for me. However this past month was her birthday and I could not resist the opportunity to do something for her! I decided to throw a surprise birthday party for her at a local restaurant. I invited her high school and college friends, brothers and sisters, work and church friends, and family. They all arrived before we did to ensure that she was truly surprised. As I watched her walk into the room where all of her friends and family were, it was clear she had no idea. We spent the rest of the evening eating and fellowshipping together. All in all it was a huge success and I am so thankful for everyone who joined us to celebrate because I know that it made Mom’s birthday that much more special!
November is a month to be thankful and focus on those things that we are blessed with. I am blessed with an extraordinary mother and there are no words or surprise parties that will ever compare to how thankful that I am for her.

Walking In!

Friends & Family came together to make the night really special!

Three Letters

An amazing lady told me that college is the first opportunity to actually choose friends. I had never thought of it that way, but it is true. In elementary school we play with those who our parent's pick for us, in middle school we hang out with those who we see everyday, and high school is generally just a combination of the previous two.

But college is different...

When I came to Murray State University in the fall of 2008, I never dreamed that those friends I would choose would have such a radical impact on my life. I made a decision to join a sorority where I would meet my maid of honor, my best friends, and my role-models.

Alpha Gamma Delta would be the three letters that I have worn across my chest for the past four years and as I prepare to initiate a new class of girls, it reminds me of just how much a group of women can mean to someone. I can honestly say that I have no idea where my life would be right now if it were not for the friendships and experiences that I have had within this sorority. I am so thankful and have been blessed beyond words to have been part of Alpha Gam.

Just recently I have gotten to know two new girls that will grow to be women in Alpha Gam just as I have in my college career. It is my hope for these two and the other 25 to find the same joy in the ladies around them as I did in my time as an Alpha Gam. They will learn that it is the movie nights, making dinner, rummaging through peddlers mall, making t-shirts, inside jokes, crafts, acorns, and tears that build friends into sisters and girls in women.

As I close this chapter in my life, I know that those friendships I chose to cultivate with a chosen few will be cherished for the rest of my life and I am so thankful for those three letters!

Frankly my dear...I am who I am because of AGD.

What's in a Name?

Frankly My Dear is a blog written by me - Jenni - as I begin a my version of a strange thing called life! As I informed you before, this is a really interesting part of my life and I want to share it with those around me. However, I don't want to just write about me.

Enter Luke - my amazing fiance. We were engaged on April 1st, 2011 and will be happily married on May 5th, 2012. That is the day that I will officially become a Frank {hence the the blog name}. Luke is not just a cute guy that cares about me...he's my best friend and other half who I cannot wait to start life with! My hopes for this blog is to share how wedding planning, newlywed life, and my life in general is going. So, What's in a Name? Frankly My Dear... will be my opportunity to be "frank" and let you in on what I really think!

Frankly My Dear...My Life is Changing, Ready or Not!

Luke & I on the night we were engaged!

Hello World!

My whole life I’ve been crazy about journals! As the times have changed to blogging, I figure I better get with it! This is my place to vent, share, and have fun! And it’s your chance to read all about it! I’ve always been a little hesitant about blogging - I mean who REALLY wants to read what goes on in my head! But it’s kinda cool! In a couple of years I hope to look back through these posts and remember the different seasons in my life. To be able to look back on the awesome experiences I had, and even to realize all the things that seemed like really big deals at the time, but weren’t really at all!
At this point in my life, a lot of exciting stuff is about to happen, I’m traveling, starting a new internship, planning a wedding, graduating college in two months, looking for a job, getting married to the man of my dreams, and moving away from the only place I’ve called home for 21 years! Don’t get me wrong, it’s the most exciting time of my life, just very different, and I know I’ve got a lot to learn!
As I embark on this blogging journey I hope you laugh, cry, and experience life with me!!
Frankly my dear...I am glad you are here with me! :)
