Day 239

HuHot Mongolian Grill
My first day on the job again! There’s nothing like the feeling of walking into somewhere completely new. For the third time this year, I have had an ADM “First Day” experience. From what I have been told, there are so many opportunities in this company that there is no telling how many first days I really might have with ADM. After finding my way to the plant yesterday, today’s route was breeze, it’s meeting the new people that’s a bit trickier. But to my luck, the Lincoln office is full of young faces, more than willing to help me find my way through these uncharted corn processing territories. After a long day at work, Gram and I did a little craft shopping and ate at a really neat Mongolian Restaurant called HuHot! You went through, picked your foods and sauces and took it to the Hibachi chef who cooked it right in front of you. Much better than a bowl of easy mac at the hotel!

Day 238

Three weeks may not seem that long when you’re counting down to something fun…I remember the three weeks before the wedding FLEW by! Or when you’re on vacation and you’re gone for a week and it seems like only a day. Something’s are quite the opposite…like waiting to go on that vacation…or three weeks in Nebraska away from your own house, your hubby, and living in a hotel! But, sometimes you just have to make the best of it! Today I added a few things to my room to make it feel a little more like home and did a few of my favorite things – like crafting! So despite the few bad things, there are so many things that I have to be thankful to waste time on the negatives!
Frankly my dear…Home is what you make it!

Day 237

While Gram and I are stirring up trouble on the open highway...

Day 236

Rainy Day
On the Road! Nebraska Bound!

Today’s the day! My journey to the West kicked off today! As part of my ADM trainee program, I have been assigned to three different locations in different divisions – Corn Processing in Lincoln, Nebraska, Soybean Processing in Lincoln, Nebraska, & Grain in Kansas City, Missouri. I am excited to see different parts of the company, but I will miss my home and my hubby so much! I am so blessed to have these opportunities. And on the bright side, Gram will be making the trek with me and staying for the week. So it’s off to St. Louis tonight & Lincoln, Nebraska tomorrow! See ya later Evansville, hello Mid West!

Frankly My Dear...I have too much stuff in this car!!

Day 235

Mailing in my ballot!
If you weren’t on the up and up in the life of Jenni, I am traveling for the next couple of weeks and won’t be able to vote at home. As an American I feel that the right to vote is extremely important. So many young adults feel that it doesn’t really matter, but exercising our right to vote is vital to our country. And despite how I feel about the candidates this year, it is still important that I express my freedoms that have been fought for over the years! So, in a couple of weeks…GO VOTE!

Day 234

Lover of all things Listey!

If you know me, you know that I love lists…and I don’t just mean the average grocery list or honey-to-do list, but I am talking about lists for my lists! I have always known that I have needed them to survive – as a matter of fact if it weren’t for my highlighted agenda book and plethora of brightly colored sticky notes covered with lists and my pink pens, I would have NEVER made it through my college career.
But my noticeably OCDness with lists came out in full swing today. I work at a desk with a computer in front of me and as you can imagine, after staring at spreadsheets and numbers all day, my mind tends to wander…what am I going to make for dinner, oh that bill is due, did I remember to put that load of laundry in the dryer, is there enough room on my DVR for my favorite show… and so on and so forth until I get so totally lost that I MUST make a list of all the things I should have or need to do.
And that is exactly what happened today. As part of my training I am required to travel on rotations for three weeks and that rotation happens to begin next week…as you can see where this is going…I was sitting at my desk today, immersed in spreadsheets and contracts when it dawned on me that I will be leaving for Nebraska in less than 48 hours and I have yet to even clean my bag out from going home last weekend! My mind was spinning and the next thing I knew my hand was scribbling on the side of a spare sheet of paper with one list and before I knew it I had five lists in front of…FIVE because one BIG list just isn’t good enough.
I am ashamed to say that what happened next... it is a tad embarrassing, but hey, there’s no judgment here right.. So my obsession with lists got the best of me and I got on the internet and even Googled MAKING LISTS! I know it is a bit pathetic…but hey, I am not the only one as 730,000,000 results popped up!
Among the thousands of search results about lists ranging from how to make lists to benefits of making lists, two links caught my eye…the first was to a site that asked a variety of questions from the weather to travel accommodations and activities. It then formulated a packing list…HOW HANDY!
The second was a link to a NPR article entitled: 10 Reasons Why We Love Making Lists– I love this..a list of why we make lists! My favorite part of finding this article is that it reassured me that making lists are not for the crazy, but rather lists can make you smarter…or famous…but interestingly enough, not necessarily more productive!
Another quote I got out of the article was one that they had pulled from the TV Show House, “Enough Organization, enough lists and we think that we can control the uncontrollable.”
When I read this quote it drew my attention to the fact that no matter how many lists I make, I am never the one in complete controllable. Yes, I have free will to make my own decisions, but my GOD, the ONE TRUE creator is the master of all lists and only he can give me the strength to complete all of mine.
In that context..what a BLESSING all those lists really are!

…Frankly My Dear I am a lover of all things listey & I am thankful for a God who is in control!

Day 230

One of my new favorite pictures...
When I was little I had a white helmet with dinasour stickers and flashing light on the back that I would wear on the four wheeler with my Daddy. I cannot count the times that he would drive me accross the country with my head bobbing as my favorite place to take a nap was on the back of that four wheeler. It's funny how history repeats itself. Today, my daddy has a new four wheeler and we both a have a few more years under our belt, but the memories are still the same! I am so blessed to have this man in my life!!
