Bun It Up!

Since September I have been loving my short new hair-do. But over the holiday break, I really started missing the ease & elegance of my favorite style - the BUN! So to make myself feel better I found three classic bun styles that are quick, easy, and totally eye-catching.

The french braid sock bun is a classic. It adds that extra touch to the original sock bun & completes any outfit. Learn how from this great video tutorial.

This fishtail framed sock bun is great for that cute atzec dress you just got for Christmas or those new patterned leggings & boots! Check out the tutorial here!

My absolute favorite is this messy yet absolutely perfect top knot. The ease of the bun adds so much elegance & it goes with everything. Learn how from this post & rock the style for New Year's!

Just to reminisce for a moment, here's my signature bun...pre-cut!

Do you have a favorite bun style?!

Frankly my dear...Bun it up, Y'all!

Morning Praises {In Christ Alone}

This morning I was scrolling through Pinterest & saw this pin...
via
I began humming the song unknowingly & my Gram who was cooking in the kitchen behind me began singing it. I pulled it up on YouTube to listen & my heart was completely filled. Tears filled my eyes as I listened to the words...

In Christ alone my hope is found

He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

What incredible words...strength, solid ground, love, peace, comforter...& that I stand in his love. Wow. This song really encompasses Christ. From his love to his death on the cross to his victory and our hope in him. Since I have been examining my heart & life as I prepare for 2014, this song really took up camp in my heart. I want my life to reflect the words & my heart to believe each lyric in every way. Throughout the next year I pray this song will be lived out in my life.

Listen to the words. Really listen to them. What do they mean to you?

Frankly my dear...In Christ Alone.

Five on Friday {Christmas Recap Edition}

It's Friday, Y'all!
Has this not seemed like a strange week to anyone else?!
This Five on Friday I decided to do a little photo dump recap of our Christmas festivities!

{one}
Our Christmas!

Although our child lives on four legs, we had SO much fun watching him root through his stocking! He brings so much joy to our little family!

{two}
Kentucky Christmas

What do you get when you mix a new shotgun, a UK girl & her crazy family? See for yourself...

{three}
Tennessee Christmas

A little further South to the hubby's family! Our nephews just make Christmas so fun! Watching the two year old scream when he opened the semi-truck set we got him was worth every second!

{four}
A Very Monogramed Christmas!...JUST the way this southern girl likes it!

{five}
As we wrap up this incredible Christmas season & look into 2014 it's easy to get carried away with the NYE plans, outfits, & glitter. (Oh, I love glitter!) But, this next year I want to be intentional with my life.  I know the Lord has a plan for it & my prayer this next year will be seeking that plan in every aspect of my life. My Lara Casey #PowerSheets came in earlier this week & it's time to start preparing for the New Year, the right way!

Many are the plans in a person's heart but the Lord's Purpose prevails.
Proverbs 19:21

Frankly my dear...I am one truly blessed lady!
