Bunny in a Bow Tie {Recipe}

Calling all procrastinators!!

Tomorrow is Easter & you have that family dinner that totally slipped your mind. Or you're looking for just the right surprise treat for your kiddos from the Easter Bunny...I've totally got you covered!

Each year (yes..still to this day) my mom makes an Easter Bunny cake that is is festive & delicious. I love it so much & will continue the same tradition with my kids someday.

Today, I am sharing with you how to create this cute bunny & the recipe for my mom's homemade chocolate fudge icing - my FAVE!

Ingredients:
1 Chocolate Cake Mix + Instructed Instructed Ingredients
1 box powdered sugar
3/4 stick of butter, softened
1/2 cup cocoa
1/4 cup milk
Jelly Beans, Sixlets, or any festive Easter Candy of your choice!

Step One: Mix up cake mix as directed on box and pour into TWO 8 inch round cake pans. Bake as directed & let cool completely on baking rack. My favorite is chocolate cake but you can most definitely use your favorite cake flavor!

Step Two: To make a template for your ears & bow tie, trace the bottom of your 8 inch pan on a piece of paper & cut out. Draw a crescent shaped line on one side, fold your circle in half, & cut. Follow the picture below for more details. Set aside until cake has cooled completely.

Step Three: While the cake cooling you may also mix up your icing. In a large mixing bowl, add powdered sugar, butter, & cocoa. Use an electric mixer to combine ingredients. Add milk & blend until creamy. If the frosting is too thick, add more milk until frosting is spreadable. If it is too thin, add more powdered sugar. Like the cake mix, you may use any other frosting you wish!

Step Four: Place one cooled cake in the center of a large platter. Next, place the ear template you previously cut out on the second cake. Cut each ear leaving the bow tie remaining. Arrange ears & bow tie on the platter to create your bunny shape.

Step Five: Ice cake & garnish with Easter Candy.

Isnt sessional baking the best?! I hope you enjoyed the tutorial! If you have any questions feel free to comment or email me. I hope you have a wonderful Easter & blessed time with family and friends!

Frankly my dear...Hoppy Easter {Baking}!
