Life Happens

Since October life has been crazy busy and hectic! November brought about preparing for vacation, Thanksgiving in Florida, and my last few days of college. Graduation, Christmas, and New Year seemed to fly by and now we are into our second week of 2012! Work and wedding planning seem to be all that is on my mind now and it’s hard to find time to do everything that I want to do. It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost four months since my last post and in four more months…I’ll be married! As I reflect back on the last four months, here are the highlights!

WICKED

October 27th – For Mom’s birthday I bought us tickets to the broadway show Wicked. It was held at the TPAC center in downtown Nashville and it was phenomenal! I had heard great things about the show, but it was better then I had imagined. The actors and music were so great! It was actually mom’s first live performance of a Broadway show so that made it even more special!

HALLOWEEN

October 31st – Halloween! Every year since high school I have celebrated this holiday with my bestie Morgan! This year was no different! Morgan & Nicole asked me to go to a costume party to celebrate and of course I said yes! I was off to buy a costume only to find out the night before the party all three of us had unbeknownst gotten the same costumes – we were the flapper trio!

CRUSH DANCE

November 4th – Each fall Alpha Gam hosts their annual crush dance at the Bull Pen in Murray. This year was a little bittersweet as it was my last sorority dance. I had a great night dancing and spending time with my best friends, sisters, and my boy!

ROCK-A-THON 2011

November 11th – Rock-A-Thon is our annual philanthropy event where Alpha Gam raises money for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. Through the foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research is funded, Sis-Grants for sisters in need are funded, and thousands of dollars of scholarships are given out to collegiate Alpha Gams everywhere. Every year the seniors are spirit judges and they wear decorated sashes and sit at the front of the stage to judge each competition. Other fraternities and sororities compete to be the Rock-A-Thon Champs and this year I got to be the judge! The theme was “Gettin’ Nsyc with Gams” and everything was 90’s. It is events like these that made AGD what it was for me and I am so thankful for the opportunities I had through such an awesome organization.

Hard to believe we are all seniors! So thankful for great friendships!

WEDDING SHOWER #1

November 13th – Abby threw me an Alpha Gam Wedding Shower before I graduated! It was a great afternoon spent with my sisters who wanted to celebrate my upcoming marriage. It really meant a lot for all the girls who came to show how excited they are for me! I got several great presents for Luke and I start our life together with!

THANKSGIVING in FLORIDA

November 24th – For Thanksgiving we always celebrate with my mom’s side of the family. Generally it is in Kentucky at our house or in St. Louis at Gram’s house – but NOT this year! All thirty something of us loaded our vehicles and packed swimsuits and beach toys rather then sweaters and coats! We spent a week together in the Sunshine State at a small island off the panhandle called St. George Island. It was a vacation like any other! I had a blast spending time with my aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, and future hubby on the BEACH! Thanksgiving day brought turkey and all the fixins’ just like any other, but this year the view was incredible and instead of an afternoon on the couch, we celebrated on the beach!

GRADUATION

December 10th – I graduated from Murray State University with a degree in Agriculture Business. I completed college in three and a half years and it is all thanks to my parents for all the love and support they gave me – not just through college, but my whole life. I would not be where I am today if it were not for their constant encouragement, motivation, and faith that I would be nothing less then successful.

I am SO blessed to have two parents who love me so much.

CHRISTMAS 2011

December 24th – On Christmas Eve, Luke and I spent the evening with my family before we went to Henderson, TN to spend Christmas day with his family. It was the my first Christmas away from home and I will say it was not easy, but it is a sweet reminder that I now have a whole other family who loves me too. I am thankful for my family’s Christmas traditions and cannot wait to start some of my own with Luke and our future family!

Frankly my dear… Life happens!
