Different.

2013 has be a year of learning in the Frank household! Some lessons are pretty easy, but here recently God has thrown us a curve ball. Those closest to us know that this past month has not been the easiest. Our work life has been turned upside down and left us both searching for purpose in what we want to do and where we want to be. God has always proven himself faithful in our lives, but these past few weeks I have been humbled beyond belief by the way that he cares for his children.  I am taken to Matthew 6:26 – “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” ESV – It’s comforting to know that despite my worries about daily tasks, God has already provided me with more than I need and will continue to do so.

My prayer as Luke and I are in this valley is that we are choosing God’s will. It’s easy to pick our own plans – especially when we aren’t in ideal situations – but as we will be faced with difficult decisions in the next week, I pray that we will choose his path. It’s difficult to endure hardships, but it’s a blessing that God gives us the strength to grow and learn from them. How incredible to think that although we would not have chosen this learning situation, God is using it to make us into tools for his kingdom.

One last thought – In one of my devotions last week it was discussing God’s Unlimited Love and that when we start to doubt him because he doesn’t give us what we want or we speculate him withholding affection we have a complete misconception of who he is. There was a quote that caught me: “When we harbor such thoughts, we are applying our finite experience to an infinite being. The result is a distorted view.” Our teeny tiny view of the world is just that – minimal. To think we can comprehend his plan is ridiculous and impossible. There’s no physical way I can do it and that’s why I am SO thankful that he has a plan for me.

Thanks for sharing with me in this valley! I know that I have friends out there sending some prayers up for my family and I am so thankful for that! If you have similar thoughts or prayer requests, I would love to join you in your walk with faith too! God provides us with special friends that share our faith for a reason – let’s use each other!

Happy Short Week Everyone! 🙂

Frankly My Dear…Times are a bit different at the moment!
