Wednesday in the Word {an introduction}

Good Morning, Friends!

We’ve made it to the middle of the week! Yay!

Today, I have something new to share with you!

I’ve decided to start a weekly series called Wednesday’s in the Word

Every Wednesday I will be posting things I’m learning in the word & thoughts that I have on my heart. I always find it so encouraging to hear what other friends are learning in their walks with God & I thought this would be a great way to centralize those! I’ve contemplated a link-up, but I’d like to see if there is any interest before I “launch” that (so, please, let me know if you are!).

For now I will just share what’s been on my heart this week…

Diligence.

It’s a word that has been in my devotion, my scripture, & our Sunday morning sermons.

I always find that when God wants to tell me something, he makes it VERY clear!

I am huge on definitions so of course I looked it up…

careful. persistent. effort. …such rich words.

Such convicting words.

Do I carefully seek Jesus? Am I persistent with my prayers? Am I applying all my effort?

There are multiple times 2 Peter references diligence but I love chapter 3 verse 14:

Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found without spot or blemish, and at peace.”

I find it so incredibly comforting that despite my flaws, I am his beloved. That he is preparing a place for me and as I wait I am to be diligent for him — so that I may be spotless & at peace. wow.

So many times though, I get all caught up in the love language of God that I forget my role, my response to his gift is to be diligent…in everything I do. From my walk with him to my marriage to my relationship with those around me – I am called to be careful, persistent, & apply effort. Some times I get “busy” and forget how crucial diligence is to my relationship with Christ.

Just this last Sunday I was talking with Luke about how we always ask for prayer about certain things, seek God’s will about something specific, or set goals for our self…but how often do we diligently seek God’s advice on those things? I mean really, wholeheartidly, seek his guidance?

My application this week is to choose a particular task and be diligent at getting it accomplished. I want to KNOW what diligence looks like in my life & just how I can apply that to seeking God’s will FIRST.

A verse I am clinging to this week as a response to being diligent is Colossians 3:23:

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”

What does diligence mean to you? How are you living out diligence for the Lord in your life?

I would love to hear your thoughts & comments below!

Thanks for stopping by! Wishing a a great day & wonderful rest of the week!

Frankly my dear…be diligent today!
