Wednesday in the Word {Momma}

Welcome to Wednesday in the word, Friends!

This week seems to be flying by, but that’s ok… this weekend the fam and I are off to Tennessee to celebrate Mother’s Day!

Last week I told y’all about our study through Philippians and the Joy that Paul had despite his circumstances. Another attribute of Paul that he consistently expressed through his letters was Thankfulness. This week our homework was to make a list of all the things we were genuinely thankful for. So often we get caught up in the world of instant gratification & endless choices that we tend to forget the things we have and the situations that have gotten us there.

This Sunday we will celebrate Mother’s Day and for that I am very thankful. Just think of the attributes of God we see through the women that raised us – selflessness, compassion, tenderheartedness, encouragement, even discipline.

This week I want to give us some scripture that will remind us of ways to be thankful for our Mother’s….

We should be thankful for her constant example & dedication to raising us in the faith.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”

Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Recognize her willingness love always.
1 Peter 4:8: “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.

1 John 4:7-8:Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Thank her for her role model of what it means to be a woman of god & what marriage should be.
Proverbs 31

Her ability to always be a teacher for things that are lasting.
Proverbs 6:20-22: “My son, keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not your mother’s teaching.Bind them on your heart always;tie them around your neck. When you walk, they will lead you.

We should be thankful that her examples point us towards Godly things.
Philippians 4:8: “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

She provides us with proof of the attributes of God.
Galatians 5:22-23: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

With all of that said, I am completely humbled to have the incredible Mother that I have. She posses the attributes of a Christian mother & I am so thankful that she raised me in the way of the Lord. Her life has always been about putting other’s first, just at Christ’s life was. I am thankful for her example & her leadership.

“Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.”   Philippians 1:3

Frankly my dear…I am thankful for my Momma!
