Everyone has vivid memories from their childhood. A few I will never forget is my “red circle” spot on the rug in kindergarten, riding horses with my dad when I was five, & participating in Operation Christmas Child (OCC) at my church. I can distinctly remember the feeling of taking my shoebox stuffed full of fun things for a little girl like me to the front of the church on collection Sunday. I was so proud of that shoebox & I always wondered where my new friend lived & what she looked like. Despite never knowing those details, it was still such a privilege to participate in OCC.
A few things have changed since then, I’m a little taller and I have a few more years under my belt, but I still get that same feeling knowing a child in need will receive a box of fun & useful items. That’s why this year I am so excited to partner with my friend, Hayley, in an Operation Christmas Child Blog Share. She has a big heart for this event & I am so thankful that she organized this fun link-up to make something happen for these children in need.

So, what is Operation Christmas Child?
OCC is an event sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Participants pack a shoe box (or similar size plastic box) with gender specific items ranging from small toys & stuffed animals to toiletries & socks. Read more about Samaritan’s Purse here.
